You do not need my scripts to set up and view the schedule. Once you have set up your channel lineup they make it a little easier to move around in the grid with fewer fingers.

The first thing to do is go to TitanTV.com and set up a free account. It will automatically walk you through a 3 step process to set up your first channel lineup. It will first ask for your zip code. Then it will ask whether your provider is broadcast, cable, digital cable, or satellite. Then it will ask for a specific provider and package. For instance, Dish will have several entries like Dish + Premium. This site is very customizable and allows you to create custom channel lineups. You will probably want to do this to create a custom lineup that just contains your favorite channels. This process is a little tricky because you select your desired channels from a non-standard list. To select a channel in the list you must press Space on the desired channel number in the list. Give it a second or two to respond. It will insert "Added" just before the channel number when it recognizes your selection. This list does not scroll correctly and may not do this as expected. If you find a channel that is difficult to select, press Home then perform a Find for the channel number. It should then recognize the selection correctly when you press Space since the list scrolled correctly for the Find operation and the channel is actually in the visible area. Press Tab to get out of the list and press Space or Enter on the "Add Channels" button.

Activate "Manage Channel Lineups" to create more lineups and select your default lineup. You can create as many lineups and custom lineups as you want. For instance, you could have a "Kids" or "Sports" custom lineup. It is very easy to switch between lineups displayed in the grid through an edit field that operates like a combo box. All of the combo boxes on the grid pages, like Date and Time, also appear to JAWS as edit fields but act more like Combo boxes. The vbest way to use these "combo boxes" effectively is to press Space to enter Forms Mode, if not done so automatically, then Arrow up or down to the desired item and press Enter. This will reload the page with new data and may take a second or two. Normal line-ups contain all of the available channels for a provider. In my area, the DirecTV line-up did not have my local channels correct. I was able to also set up a Broadcast line-up then create a custom line-up that contained my favorite channels from both the DirecTV and Broadcast line-ups. Then I edited the custom line-up to make the local channels match what they are called on my DirecTV box. Very powerful.

Yes, it seems to have all broadcast, cable and satellite providers in the US. For satellite, it has DirecTV, Dish, Sky Angel, and C-Band.

I do not think it can work outside the US because it asks for a zip code first. I would not know what to enter for UK or South Africa. Actually, I would like to get a look at UK TV schedules. it may work in Canada, since I think they use a 5 digit zip code.

I know that the scripts work well with JAWS 10, 11 and 12, because they were developed under those versions. All of the functions used have been available since JAWS 6.0, so most likely would work going that far back. However, some of the function calls interact directly with the webpage DOM, so I would not want to bet that Freedom Scientific or really old versions of Internet Explorer / Firefox would work properly.

Hi Don,
Which version of Jaws did you write the scripts for?
Thanks,

Will the NFB Newsline website have listings for your area?

I use www.titantv.com for my TV listings. It is very customizable and displays the time grid in a true HTML table. This allows you to navigate using the JAWS table navigation hotkeys. In general, they are Alt + Control + Arrow keys. It can be set to view up to 6 hours at a time.

I have a DirecTV DVR which can be programmed from a website. I have written JAWS scripts to make it easier to go through the TitanTV listings. Basically, it provides a table navigation mode that allows just using the arrow keys to move around like a spreadsheet. The time and channel titles are announced as you move through the table. Then with a hotkey, it will start the DirecTV website and perform a search for the show you are on so it can easily be recorded.

I realize not many people have DirecTV, but I use the table mode a lot on large HTML tables on many sites. My scripts are at:

My problem with NFB Newsline is that ours will discontinue on October 1. This has been the only place I can get accessible listings, and it was available by phone so I called and used it a lot. But with it discontinuing in my area, I wonder if they'll at least have it available to everyone online. It's just so hard to find a good TV guide online, so I understand this frustration and welcome all ideas. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Candy" <[email protected]>

I use nfb newsline web news on demmand. They have a tv listings
section. Once you set up all of your information, it is extremely
easy to use.
