It should just keep retrying! Occasionally, if the error is very serious, the update may get "stuck" and try forever. In this rare case, check back, there is a Microsoft article on how to clear this out as well, which I can look up.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] a windows update?

Hi all,
I think this is a dumb question but I am going to ask it any way.
when a windows update fails to install properly and your settings for windows update is set to update automatically will the update that failed to install properly, install again on it's own or do I have to manually instal it?
thanks in advance anna
