In addition, if this is your work computer, e.g., u r not its admin, then u also need to check w/your system administrator to see if settings have been changed there. Additionally, if u have firewall software installed, then possibly this may also be the cause--& note that this can include a firewall in your router. I really do wonder if perchance an update to Outlook's security settings is what might have caused your difficulty. The fact that u installed Jaws 12 at or around the same time may well be purely coincidental in this case, but it sure can be enough to throw one off, can't it? Gl w/that.
