I'm running XP Home and JAWS 12 latest update. This is not an issue with the update, it is a problem for which I've been using a work-around for since JAWS 11 and my APEX/BrailleNote.

I need to get the Found New Hardware dialogue box to appear. The computer sees the device as a mass storage device.

If I start the computer with the APEX connected, JAWS doesn't start the unit when the Desktop comes up. If I turn JAWS off, reboot the Apex, go to terminal mode on the apex and then turn JAWS back on, all works fine. If I try to reboot the Apex without turning JAWS off, the Apex doesn't work after resetting the unit.

In my braille settings in JAWS, it shows a com4 which was not there before I installed the Apex, but it doesn't appear that JAWS sees it as the USB/Serial port. I have the correct driver and I think that if I could get the Add New Hardware Dialogue box to appear, I could fix this problem.

TIA, Betsy
