Jacob:
Excellent post as usual.
I am just not even going to mess with it anymore.
I was on another list and it was stated that since the cpu usage on my
system was typically around 80 there was something wrong.
I did have around 90 processes but now I am down to like 64 and the cpu
usage has been in the sixties.
I guess what I was trying to accomplish was to figure out where I can find
out what the heck these processes were and what should be stopped if it
isn't necessary to run.

Take care.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] finding out information on processes?

I have 75 processes running, and while I do have quite a few things running
at startup, I don't think that's too much more than normal.

The only way to find out what a process is would be either to search on the
'net, or if you search for the executable/process name on your hard drive,
find it, and then hit alt + enter on it, and then in properties dialogue,
ctrl + tab to something like details tab, and in the list there you might
find things like a full name, etc., but, for example, lots of them might be
components of parts of windows, etc., and you might do better to just look
at system tray icons, or something.

In other words, just be slightly careful about what you start/stop if you're

not too sure what it's actually required/needed for.

Stay well
