Hi Al,
Using the program Mike mentioned, it is much easier to create and restore
snapshots of the system.
If you like to test programs, then this is much easier and less
time-consuming than using Windows System Restore, or Image for Windows.
In Windows 7, the System Restore utility interface is much easier to use
with a screen-reader than Windows XP, so I wouldn't use the Rollback RX on
that system,
but, with XP, Rollback RX is a very nice replacement.
Of course, it's a matter of personal preference.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Mike,
Sounds pretty complete. My thinking is if it does this why
not just use Image for Windows which is very JAWS friendly?

Hi Alan;
In a nutshell, this program takes a snapshot of your whole
operating system,
including your My Documents folder, Favorites, Windows
Address Book, &
whatever else is included in your operating system. When
you do a restore
using The Rollback RX program, it will roll back everything
in the operating
system & not just the program files, settings, & whatever
else that system
restore does. Rollback RX basically does a complete
rollback of your C
drive. So, if using Rollback RX, you have to be aware that
if you don't
backup your files & you do a rollback, you will lose
personal information.
Like saved Word docs / Text files, favorites, address book
info, & other
saved information that system restore doesn't touch. This
program is much
easier to use for doing a system restore but, you have to be
aware of its
extended capabilities. When I have more time I will post
more information.
If I haven't described or, have said anything incorrectly,
would others
please jump in & straighten things out. Hope this helps, a
little. Take
care.
Mike

Mike,
How does this program differ from using the restore
option?
Also, do you have or have checked out Image for Windows?

I have not looked at it as of yet but possibly later on
this week I might
kick the tires.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] RollBack Rx program question
Hi All;
I recently purchased & installed the RollBack Rx
program.
It is a great
program but, navigating it is a real pain! Does anyone
know if there are
scripts available for this program? Or, any available
tutorials to help
Jaws users with this program? I am running XP Home, &
Jaws10, 11, & 12
latest. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
much. Take care.
Mike
