There was a very informative article on this subject a couple of years ago
in smart computing magazine. In short version 3 is around 10 times faster
than version 2 although it will be far more expensive for a while
unfortunately. The main purpose will be for external disk drives and other
such storage devices. Things like keyboards and mice can't even make use of
USB 2 speeds. In fact neither will sound cards and external CD/DVD burners
make use of version 3 speed as there is a limit as to how fast a disk can be
burned before errors start to creep in to the process.

USB 3 is only starting to come out here lately but don't expect all of the
ports on any system to be version 3 compatible as it will be far too
impractical and like I said costly as well. Now having said that I'd like to
see just how fast such an animal would be sitting in front of me, I'll bet
they smoke.

Jacob and Matthew,
Thank you so much.
I can now hold my own, I feel empowered.
I new to being blind, and could not survive at work without this website
and your knowledge and help.
Many thanks
