Hi Matthew,
The technician will probably install software on your computer, but you will not need to use it, so it shouldn't be a problem for your screen-reader. They may tell you it is necessary, but it is not, it is just for their technical support staff's convenience,
since they can't think outside of a script. smile
I have none of their software on my computers.
I don't believe that the actual U-verse service goes on the computer, it is more for the TV.
If you are using AT&T service for the first time, as your ISP, beware
of the following:
If you have other e-mail addresses, like g-mail, they will have to be registered with AT&T before you can
use them for sending mail thru AT&T's server.
I don't have the U-Verse service with them, just the dsl, but from what I hear, your internet connection thru U-Verse should be pretty quick.
Good Luck,
Rick Justice

Subject: [Blind-Computing] question about at and t uverse internet

Hello all. Me and my wife will be having AT and T uverse set up in our new
place. Is there anything we should ask them not to install? I know some
providers install things that are not needed and can hamper the jobs of
screen readers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
