What I do is un-mute my sound card on the play back side which allows you to
hear JAWS at the same time as my own voice, but it does not work on all of
my sound cards. It works on the Real Tech in my lap top and my external
Turtle Beach audio advantage Roadie and my internal Audagy. It will not work
on a low end sound card but they don't have to be overly high end either. I
paid around $70 for that Turtle Beach about 4 years ago.

There is another method which I have not tried as I do not own an audio
mixer since for the time being I have enough sound cards on hand to handle
the load so to speak.

The last tutorial on Windows 7 I did was actually done using tandem since
the sound card on the lap top does what I need it to do but it does not have
Windows 7 on it.

All kinds of tricks to the trade as the saying goes.

Not really relevant, since it's separate as such, but I reckon I'd
standardly, rather use something completely unrelated to the computer
itsself, like one of my phones, my talking MP3 player, with it's built in
microphone, etc. etc., and the trick there would just be to place either of
them in the right place to catch both me talking and my computer babbling
away, etc.

Stay well
