Hello Karen,

As David said in his reply to you about recording cassette tape, it can be done. I have done it with reel to reel tapes recorded in four tracks of my own kid's voices.

GoldWave was my saving grace. I had to figure out how to split the tracks. What I do remember is that I recorded track 1 and 3 together and even at the tape slower speed (1-7/8 I.P.S on a 3-3/4 i.p.s. tape deck), it sounded like the chipmunks.

With GoldWave, I was able to take the recorded data and I separated the track and slow down the rate to a normal speed for listening. I think that everything you need would be under the edit menu of GoldWave.

GoldWave is a great software and if you need help, I would have to go back and figure out exactly what I did. It did really work and it was great to hear my kid's voices again after so many years.

Let us know if you need any more information. If you are in the USA, I can perhaps help you over the phone if that is okay with you.

Take care.

Lennie

can someone tell me, in excruciating detail, what i need to move a copy of a
cassette recording onto my computer? I am using XPsp3 and jaws 11. i made
tapes of my children when they were toddlers. Now that my son has a son of
his own, he wants copies of my cassettes on a cd. foolishly, i'd recorded
the tapes using a 4 track recorder so i don't think i can take them to a
service that does this kind of thing. Thanks for any help. Karen
