There could be several things with the mike muted.

1. If the Jaws output has ben re-routed to a headset such as by opening Jaws with Insert J then going to Utilities and then to Sound Card it could be Skype is configured to use that headset and perhaps the mic part is muted only allowing the Jaws to come through.

Could be Jaws is set up to output to an external card with no mike in it or volume turned down or shut off on the unit

Could be the Windoes settings for audio output have been changed globally to a different card doing similar

Could be the Volume control is set to "What I hear" and microphone muted only allowing the Jaws to come through.

Really needs to be more info to problem solve it.

For instance in my case I use a M Audio device as a sound card for my system sounds, playing CDs, etc. and a headset hooked to the Sound Blaster Sound Card adapter for Jaws. However sometimes I want both to come through my headset. So I'll go to Windows Control Panel/Sounds And Audio Devices and change the default from M Audio to Sound Blaster. Opposite to what I want Jaws comes out the M Audio device with the system sounds. I then go to Jaws and set it to use the Sound Blaster as the previous change toggles the Jaws one without my doing anything and then it is fine :).

So these things can do unpredictable things :). Plus Skype is configurable to use different than your system default speaker/headset and there are recording levels in there to check as well.

Well the mic can't be muted because JAWS can be heard. If your test call worked all right, I have no idea what's going on then.

Did you try a test call to the Echo thingy on your contact list?

Press alt T for tools, up arrow to options and look around and explore
all those settings. You'll learn a lot.

Hi,

I rarily use skipe so please excuse the stupid question.

I just made a skipe call and when I did, the person could hear my
jaws, pretty much everything I am typing but they cannot hear me
when I
talk.
What is going on? If someone tells me to look at some settings,
please be very specific cuzz again, I hardly ever use skipe, so just
spell it out for me.

I am using skipe 5.1 .

Thanks.
