I would definitely advise caution when disabling items in msconfig if the
user isn't sure what the item is.  Just to be safe I use google to look up
any startup items or services that I may need more information about.
Particularly, some services are absolutely needed for normal operation and
disabling them can cause undesirable problems.

hit enter

control tab to the startup tab and uncheck what ever you feel is not
important enough to run at startup time. Note: be careful in there.
