Cliff, I will assume that you mean that you are naming your files with numerals instead of alpha characters. If that is correct, do the following.
20110101.txt for January 1, 2011 20110201.txt for February 1, 2011 ... 20111201.txt for December 1, 2011. The .txt is just for an example, use whatever extension is appropriate. If all of your files will be dated within the 21st century, you need not begin the file name with the 20. Be sure to use two digits for the month and two digits for the day in every date.
