Thanks Don!
I believe you are right about the hard drive failing. I have noticed the
Gigs available fluctuating from 2 Gigs at one time back up to 8 Gigs once
before while viewing the local drive properties.
I do have an external hard drive for backing up, so I will use it.

The computer does have another slot for another hard drive, so I will
look into that as well.

Concerning AVG, I am guessing that I can just do a normal uninstall of
AVG when the time comes without having to download any special removal
tool or worry about any folders or registry values being left behind.

Thanks!
Alvin

Neither Security Essentials or Windows Update should ever eat up 20 GB
of disk space! You have something going on. Calculate the used and
free space compared to the entire drive, My guess is that the drive may
be failing and automatically blocking out bad sectors. This effectively
continuously makes the drive smaller as it gets worse. If this is the
case, get the data off of it and replace the drive.

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any
real substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I
am working on things that matter.
