Hi Mike, I decided to be bold and took the update. At least the one It I was offered required a reboot to complete. I took a very quick look at it with JAWS 10 since I had it running and I didn't want to bother with J12 which was a bit more accessible here than 10 and didn't notice any changes. I did look at the What's New page and there wasn't anything about an update yesterday or today and the last one that was listed was on August 2nd which was the big one for 5.0x. I looked at the update options while I was there and there was a check box for periodically check for application updates and another check box for automatically download and install application updates. I think I got the wording right.

My guess is that it wouldn't do any harm to update your version since it can't make anything worse, but might make things better. Take care. I wandered in the computer room to check on the progress of the daily scheduled scan earlier tonight only to be greeted by the message that an update was available, did I want to download it? After the trouble the last update to 5.x caused, I said no until I could find out what the update does. Did any brave soul say yes? How accessible is it and what's new with it? Thanks, Margaret ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike & Barbara in Arcadia" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 17, 2011 5:59 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] SuperAnti Spyware Pro users Hi Margaret, There is 1 thing to be aware of, & that is if you run the SAS 4.56 version, you will be constantly be told that there are updates available, & asked if you would like to update now! I found that to be such a nuisance, that I updated to the 5.0 version. Take care. It's very good news and should make our lives a lot easier. [email protected] Wrote: Hi, If you use the link for the old Pro 4.56 interface, will SAS still update new / latest definitions without updating the interface etc.? Thanks much, take care. Mike SUPERAntiSpyware.com Replied: Hi there, Yes that is true. Definition updates are independent of product updates. You can stay completely up-to-date with definitions while still using version 4.56. It installed the new version several days ago when I checked for updates after it hadn't done the usual daily scan for a couple days. I was finally able to schedule a daily scan for my preferred time, but I couldn't tell it to let me do manual complete scans when I wanted and not to do them automatically. The closest I could come was to let it do them one day a week. Does anyone know if with version 5 (Pro) for the item to quarantine and remove items does it remove them or put them in the quarantine vault so one can double check them before removing them? I was able to get the new Pro version to work with JAWS 10, but it was a bit easier with 12. If you use the link for the old interface, will SAS still update new definitions etc.? It is not accessible with any earlier versions. Also, we have both learned that about the only part that is accessible is configuring scanning & programming schedules, but even doing these tasks' takes a lot of work using both the Jaws & PC cursors & left, right, up, & down arrowing. Hopefully they will make the rest of the Interface accessible as well. Take care.
