It's my understanding that if you turn on windows updates to update automatically, MSE will update itself every day. You can also set it up to update before an automatically scheduled scan.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Ninite not updating MSSE

Hi All,

I have found that Ninite, at least on all 4 of our computers, will not
update Microsoft Security Essentials. I will check what MSSE definition we have, run Ninite, immediately recheck the MSSE definitions, & find that they
have not been updated. Then I check for updates from within the MSSE
program & MSSE updates with a newer version / definition number. I have no idea why Ninite doesn't update MSSE, but I would like to find out if others have this same problem with the Ninite program. We are running XP Home on 2
computers & XP Pro on the other 2 computers. All help / input will be
greatly appreciated. Thanks much, take care.
Mike
