Jaws is reading the status of what is being done - "checking for new
messages" means it is contacting the server to see IF THERE ARE any new
messages, this does not mean there are new messages just it is checking for
them.

What would you like it to tell you? "checking for new messages ..... sorry
there are no messages"?

Programs that do give you feedback as to what is happening is doing just
that - you hve to work out what the message actually means - if it doesn't
check for new messages how is it supposed to let you know there are new
messages?

The percentage is the progress of its connection with your mail servers and
that is dependent on internet traffic and the and the mail servers it has to
get the information from.

hello
when I press F5 for new email jaws says BT internet checking for new
messages.
once that is done jaws says getting list of messages from serber followed by
20 percent then 100 percent
however when I look there are no messages when I press F5 and it searches
via another email address for example tafn it says getting messages if
there are none to download jaws does not say getting messages from server
anyone know why it says one thing for one email address and something
different for the other?
and why does it say getting messages if there are not any to get.
thank you
Yvonne
