Hi Lennie & Mark;
Below is a note I found dealing with Adobe8. Give this a try, it sure
can't
hurt.
Short answer: pressing F6 should get you out of the find box and back to
the document.
Longer answer: When you're using JAWS, the Find feature doesn't work in
Adobe Reader or Internet Explorer. JAWS has its own find feature which
can be invoked with Control + Insert + F, which has to be used instead.
In Internet Explorer, if you try to activate the application's find
feature with Control + F, JAWS substitutes its own find feature. In
Adobe Reader, Control + F gets the Adobe Reader find feature; you have
to remember to use Control + Insert + F instead.
Steve
Hope this helped. Take care.
Mike

Hi
I appreciate the insight. It would be nice if there were a quick fix
to
this situation with reading PDF documents. My next university class comes
with a PDF textbook.
God bless,
Mark

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Searching in a PDF
Hi Mark,
I have the same problem as you when searching for something in Adobe
Reader document.
I asked my sighted daughter about this. She told me that what happens
is that when the search item is found, a sighted person can just read
on the page what he/she was searching for and can then continue the
search if it was not what they are looking for by hitting enter again.
So, the only way that I know of is to do a shift tab and then press
escape to get out of the search dialog and then arrow down the page
to find what I was searching for is the correct one, otherwise I must
continue the search.
I know that this method is not easy for us blind folks, but I know of
no other way to do a search in Adobe reader document. Of course, you
can always save the PDF document as a text document and search it
that way to land directly on the search word, but this method doesn't
always work out like if you find the word in a PDF document.
Does anyone else on the list know of a better way?
Take care.
Lennie
