Although I don't know much about this I would also think it
would be important not  to have open programs with unsaved
data or can this be covered with commands as well? Just
curious

It is no different than setting anything else to run at a
certain time. You
do need to know the command along with the switches to go
with it.

Does anyone know if it is possible for a computer to be
programmed to shut
down at a specified time?  As with all elementary school
kids, my son
sometimes has an issue of turning his computer off at a
decent time during
the school week.
