Adobe produces the acrobat file format reader, so don't think that's the issue, and I don't think/haven't had the accessibility processing cause any issues in the past, since don't think it really does more than render a more accessible version, but might be wrong there.

What version of the reader software do you have installed, and what version are those files provided in?

Otherwise, if not a version compatibility issue, can only guess that the file is actually corrupted, or something - have other students been able to download/open that document as of yet?

Otherwise, I honestly, generally use the PDF2TXT converter, and I think it does include letting you provide a password, to then render the text of the PDF file's contents into a text file as such, but not sure if you actually need to provide a user name for the file as such, but anyway...:

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Opening Locked PDF

Hi
In my university class, they provided the textbook in PDF format.
Unfortunately, it is locked. I am supposed to enter my user name and
password from the university but when I do I receive a message saying the
document is corrupted and to get a different copy. I tried re-downloading
the document with the same results.
The university suggests using Acrobat reader. I am using adobe reader.
Is this a problem do you think? Also, my adobe reader is set to convert the
document to accessible format. Is this something that could upset the
unlocking process?
Any ideas on how to get the book open are appreciated.

God bless,
Mark
