The HP business class computers will typically outlast the consumer class
computers, given the same amount of use. This is from personal experience
and a good friend of mine is an HP repair tech. I have been using an HP
DC5000 business class desktop everyday for the past 6 years with no
problems. My sister and two other friends have HP consumer class laptops.
All three units are about 3 years old and all 3 have been returned to HP
multiple times for repair. One with display problems, one for overheating
and one for HD and DVD problems.
Honestly, any computer can and will fail. From a laptop perspective, I have
seen the best results with IBM/Lenovo. This is what I have been
recommending for all of my clients for the past couple of years and it
hasn't bitten me in the butt yet. (knock on wood). Of course, Apple
hardware is also very good and they have outstanding service and support.
Good luck,
John

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Hulit/Packard computers;
I am seeking a general answer to my question here; could someone out there
speak to the reliability of Hulit/Packard computers as they compare to
other brands. I have a chance to buy a lap/top and I was just wondering
how the brands compare. thanks for any thoughts on the mater.
Dan
