If you can remove the digital rights management protection from your
purchased Kindle books, you could convert it to other formats, readable
with jaws, or other screenreaders.

I have found that changing the amazon .azw extention to mobi and then
converting it to txt via the zamzar.com site, works flawlessly.

You could do the same with unprotected .epub and .pdf ebooks.

However, you can read them in the original format with the
Adobe digital editions version 1.8.1 reader, which is free, provided
that you pair its authorisation with that of your Adobe ID.
