[Blind-Computing] computer running very very slowly

I  am using Jaws 13 and windows xp, everything runs very slowly.
I  have checked the display settings and they are fine.
I  think it is the amount of stuff on the start up menu but am afraid to touch 
then.
I  have no idea what they are but there are 101 windows/Microsoft items ticked 
to run.
Any thoughts?
