Probably best to use it in conjunction with something like Malwarebytes. MB
is really good actually; the supposedly pro-rated McAfee products at my
workplace have failed to clean stuff that Malwarebytes has easily done away
with. Can't really comment on MSE specifically as I don't use it, but it's
good to have one AV and one anti-malware package. You don't have to have
them both in memory at the same time (actually this occasionally causes
problems), but if you have a problem you can easily use both to scan your
system.

That question is probably up for debate, and I would say it's partly
dependant on your level of paranoia.
MSE is all I use on my systems, and I haven't had any apparent problems,
but
then I'm not a big surfer of the internet.
