Hi Mark, If you have someone look at the drive for you, it should say whether it isIDE, or SATA. An IDE drive has a wide data cable and a SATA has a narrow one. Also, the drive will be one of two sizes, either 2.5 or 3.5, the latter being about 3/4 to 1 inch thick. You can purchase external drive cases for around $15 to $30, I usually get mine from:

It would take someone with good eye sight, a steady soldering hand, and a lot of time to fix it. However, I was very grateful for Jacobs idea of putting it in a new case. This give me hope. I was able to unplug the controller FROM THE HARD DRIVE AND FIND IT LOOKS LIKE SOME TYPE OF STANDARD hard drive data plug. However, I do not know what type of data plug it is. I will need to sort that out in order to find a compatible drive box. I also need to get it measured to see what with box to be looking for. These are small plates which fit tightly against the smaller type of USB jack and keep it from moving. If one of them snaps, that particular connector is useless.
