I've always been lead to think, some of these updates can affect the 
performance of Jaws, so usually don't update.

     Personally, I install all updates. Most of the time I don't really
notice any difference. However, the manufacture of the software must think
it will do something better than the old version. Thus. I just say yes to
all, and let the computer do its thing.
     Just my thoughts.

I keep finding MSE in this optional update area, wonder why that is? Is it
new updates or new version?

Also, since I use a wireless keyboard, there's an update for it and the
wireless mouse as well.

Is this necessary to update?

This is on a Window's 7 laptop.
