HI all,

I don't hear beep codes on my custom desktop either. I don't know if its
because the speaker is faulty, the wire was never connected, or my
motherboard simply doesn't support such a feature. Either way, I don't seem
to need them, and when I had my Dell I never knew what they meant anyways.
(Smile). Manufacturer beep codes differ, so I think any advice given for a
beep code warrants follow up research. Here is a little more info on these
mysterious beep codes.

The computer power-on self-test (POST) tests the computer to make sure it
meets the necessary system requirements and that all hardware is working
properly before starting the remainder of the boot process. If the computer
passes the POST the computer will have a single beep (with some computer
BIOS manufacturers it may beep twice) as the computer starts and the
computer will continue to start normally. However, if the computer fails the
POST, the computer will either not beep at all or will generate a beep code,
which tells the user the source of the problem.
If you're receiving an irregular POST or a beep code not mentioned below
follow the POST troubleshooting steps to determine the failing hardware
component.

Hi.
That's a good question.
I don't really have an answer but I wonder why laptops don't beep when you
turn those on?

This is a question more suited for the list.

What does the beep on the computer signify when you first turn it on?
One of my new Systemax computers does not beep and I'm wondering if they may
have not hooked up the internal speaker. Seems to work ok.
Must pass all internal test as it boots fine. Just wondering
