Just to follow up on this thread before it gets out of hand I would like you
all to consider the following thoughts.

Many of you out there are well aware of the fact that I share my time and
skills quite openly but then I run into a problem. It turns out that when I
do that for too many people then things in my little corner of the world
suffer from lack of attention because too much time has been spent helping
others.

Some times I receive compensation but often enough I do not even when it is
understood from the start that I am expecting it for services rendered. That
means the person in question no longer gets help from me. The fact is people
are over anxious to take advantage of anything free and even feel that they
are entitled. So much that they will over use anything for free but the
minute a price tag is inserted in to the mix they want nothing to do with
it.

I agree that over charging is not an acceptable practice and a job well done
should be rewarded. The fact is $0.21 for all the more often you need such a
service is well within the reach of every person blind or not. If you have
an internet connection and can afford one of the major screen readers then
you can spare $0.21. Look at it as a small price to pay for a work around.

I am willing to bet that at such a price for all of those little boxes that
has ever crossed my desk I might be out at the most $1.05. Can you say candy
bar?

I don't want to start a major debate on here but I just wanted to give my
thoughts on the matter from the perspective of somebody who has been over
extended far too often in the name of charity.

that mind don't matter.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] New Captcha-Solving Service for
BlindComputerUsers

I'll probably get a lot of people upset for saying this but until last year
I was a high partial. I used to solve captias for a lot of my totally blind
wife's friends for free when I could see to do it because I thought anyone
who charged per captia was taking advantage of blind people. Now that I can
bareley see to do the captia myself I feel even more strongly that we should
not have to pay per captia for a service that should be accessible anyway.
Captia is a load of crap and there should be a better, more accessible
alternative for securing web sites or whatever people are using captia to
secure. I realize this is just my opinion and I am stating it as just my
opinion.
