David, Thanks, I mis typed my original post. I meant to say I pressed the insert F11 key as you suggested and see nothing there.

Many times when I turn my machine on I hear a message that says something like "you have one update ready to install, click here to install.: If I hit shift F11 to see if something is there it is not listed. I have tried to hit the / or * key on the keypad to invoke the balloon as I used to do on my XP machine and this doesn't seem to work either.
