Does the said page open after you clicked on it? Internet Explorer must have blocked a pop up from the site you were trying to open. If this has happened you will hear a blimp sound indicating that a pop up was blocked. To reconfirm if this is true, press the Alt + N key this should take you to the information bar of IE on a button, pressing spacebar on this button will give you more menu options on which you can act on accordingly.
