One thing about treasure chests.  The more gold pieces you already have 
seems to increase what you collect from treasure chests.
A way to take advantage of this is to run production beyond what's needed 
for product unlocks and more production slots and more manufacturing 
facilities you want to buy and beyond automation costs.  When you have 
excess you attract excess.  Then buy only part of what you want and 
continue adding up excess to get you the next expensive item and a bit 
extra before buying the second expensive item.  When you do buy your 
second expensive item you should already have in excess of what you need 
for three expensive items.
