Hi there,
Agreed. Seems odd that, for ages, the only really feasible platform to develop audio games with was Windows. Then iOS came out and pretty much took us all by surprise. Unfortunately though, since I can't use touchscreens, there's a meriad of different games I'm losing out on. Crafting Kingdom, the Night Jar, Papa Sanga, Hatchy, and Zany, just to name a few. If they were ported to Windows, I'm laughing. Even on Windows though, I'm losing out, because I struggle with the first-person games with all the angular and compass based movement, far too easy to get lost. But that's a real shame because it means I can't play a Hero's Call either, and from playthroughs I've heard, that's a hell of a fine sounding game. Also muds. Since they're text-based, they don't have the level of reality to them that other games have. And while a lot of people seem to be able to get something out of that by using Mush and scripts, I can't seem to get mine to work. The good thing about those though, is that they're online based, so as long as you have a client, the platform doesn't matter. No porting required. So at the moment, I'm pretty much still occupying my time with BK3, Manamon and Crazy Party, which are the three best games that I've found that I can actually play. I've always said that Windows audio gamers are pretty much lacking in simulations, and if I ever do manage to get the skills to develop games outside of BGT and I can get my backside back into it, that'll be my priority. Having said that, I do also have a lot of plans for other types of games that I feel could do with a lot more exploration and experimentation. I would like to go down the cross platform route, not sure how easy that would be, especially since I've pretty much vowed not to touch JavaScript. At least not for games. In my view, it was just never designed for it. Far too slow and clunky. Not only that but I've discovered that cross-platform programming needs a lot of advanced software engineering skills that self-taught programmers have, for the most part, never experienced.
Cheers,
Damien.

where is android? if you just develop for iPhone, brailleNote touch users, and SmartVision2 users get left out.
