Ok, on to why vms lag. When you run a VM, everything has to get virtualized - the hard drive, the memory, the CPU, and most importantly to us, the sound card. When the VM plays sound, the audio from the vm gets buffered, usually for a couple hundred milliseconds. For screen reader users, sound card lag translates directly to machine lag. The vm itself isn't actually lagging, but the audio output is. There are some tricks to *reduce* this, but you can't easily resolve it in full, which is why I make the suggestion above.
