It isn't that hard to beat the ghost in the castle once you know how to
proceed.

To maximize your chances to be able to attack the ghost, try to make a
team with a few different types as possible.
It worked for me with a team having only three types in total. Finally I
beat it without any death.
IF you can't attack, take advantage to heal yourself... another trick,
you can heal another manamon than the one who's turn; that's something I
had forgotten.

To get the ghost, you need to hit him with whatever he's phased to. If
he phases to fire, hit him with flame attacks.
I got him with a team of 6 level 25s, and I think only lost one.

I'd happily pay 20, and could probably even be persuaded to pay 25 or
(if you catch me on a good day) 30, but $40 is a bit much for my
tastes. So, I've never gotten past the end of the demo on the
first one.
