The problem is that even when they don't involve direct combat and require puzzles to complete, most mystery games tend to have a creepy atmosphere and at least an enemy or two somewhere to overcome, since most mystery games are either horror or fantasy, heck even in the old Zork interactive fiction  games there was a troll in one of the puzzles I believe.

You could have a look through the choice of games and hosted games titles for interactive stories, there are some like choice of the cat that might suit, and maybe the heart's choice ones which are romance based, but even there, games like in the service of Mrs. Claws, a really fun christmas themed game has a few enemies and evil elves and shape changers and so on for you to overcome.

The Vortex on Alexa might be worth a look as well, a game where you command robots to rebuild a crashed spaceship and solve a mystery, though even there, there is at least the suggestion of nasty aliens as it's part of the atmosphere, though the game is very much mystery and puzzle solving with a little resource management.

Unfortunately, if your looking for treasure finding and mystery rather than puzzles and building, you might have an issue if you don't mind at least some sort of enemies somewhere.

Hth.

All the best,

Dark.
