I can't speak for Android, but Beyond Zork is definitely available in a
text format. It's not the easiest to play because a lot of information
winds up in the status line, but I know it's available in z-machine format.
Frotz is one of the most common terminal zcode interpreters. Jzip is a
bit simpler and a modified form of which you get on the old BrailleNote
units (mpower and apex). Given a choice and if all else is equal I would
say go with Frotz though, as it supports a bit more complex games.

None are available, unforsunately. But thanks for trying to help out. Luckily for me,
Astropath has a playthrough of Zork on an Apple 2C so I can get my playthrough that
way. On Apr 18, 2024 11:43 AM, Jude DaShiell<[email protected]> wrote:
Try searching for z8 on android and see if other apps are available maybe
like jzip or fizmo or xyzzy. No idea if any of them will work.

I'll do just that. I didn't know Frotz was a thing. Thanks again. On Apr 17, 2024

My notetaker uses Android 8.1 and neither Zork nor the Fotz app seem to be available
on this version of the Play store. Which is a real bummer since I really wanted to
play another text-adventure game and wouldn't mind going back to a classic. On Apr

Unfortunately beyond zork was never produced in a text version. The
graphics freaks took over which is why that game was never accessible. A
game on the internet called hugecave is available and that doubles the
adventure available in the original zork adventures.

Zork has always interested me ever since I read about it in Ready Player One by
ernest Cline. (Unsure of spelling of title and author.) I'll have to check out
your YouTube channel.
Also, welcome to the group. Hope you enjoy your time here.

Hi,I’m new to the group. I’m using a MacBook and trying to get some old
text based games working. They’re all PC but have got DOSbox or in browser
version of dosbox to run them, but
dosbox doesn’t seem to support IOS VoiceOver. Is there a work around or
any suggestions you have? Or any suggestions for accessible games on the Mac?
Also, for anyone interested, I recorded a step by step walkthrough for MIT Zork
on my YouTube channel called Blind Advocate. It worked ok on iPad and iPhone
but buggy on the MacBook.
