I don't know exactly how big the shipping box was, but the retail package is 8 
x 6.6 x 2 inches.

Even if it wouldn't fit in your mail box, those central mailbox setups also 
have package lockers, they put your package in a locker and then put the locker 
key in your mailbox. I get packages this way all the time. The challenge then 
is to find the locker the key fits. When you open the locker, the door captures 
the key so it can't be removed without the key that resets the locker. Your 
postal carrier has that key. and will reset the locker on their next visit 
after you've removed your package.
