Hi,

If you are just looking at playing an accessible version of Monopoly on a
windows machine, I'd recommend QuintonCs Playroom. It's a free online
platform for gaming with friends, lots of card games on there, but it has
some other game too including Monopoly, and you can either play by yourself,
or connect with other friends online to play with them. I think you can play
through the browser directly, but its much better in my opinion to download
the client and play through that, as it has a bunch of hotkeys for playing,
which I think makes it easier to quickly navigate. Its all free. I'll put a
link to his website below, there you can download the client, or like I said
you can play through the website directly, but I think that would probably
feel slightly more slow to navigate that way, but that's just my opinion,
I've never tried it through the website, so it might be fine as it has been
designed especially for visually impaired people.

I know this doesn't answer your question about the specific version of
monopoly you were talking about, but hopefully it gives you an alternative
if you can't get your version working.

Kind regards

Paul

I know this doesn't directly answer your question about the specific
version of Mono

Subject: [blind-gamers] monopoly 2002

HI all
My sighted cousin gave me a freeware monopoly game he got somewhere years
ago. Its only called monopoly 2002.
The game is in cd image form so he uses virtual clone drive to run it.
The read me states that the latest windows it can run on is xp, but my
cousin is able to run it in windows 7 on his computer.
I also have windows7.
He installed the game for me to try out.
I am unable to launch the game with jaws running; I have jaws13.
I click on the icon that says monopoly 2002, then the program compatibility
assistant comes up and I find the run button and press space.
I get the following message and a close button.
Monopoly dialog Monopoly has stopped working A problem caused the program
to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if
a solution is available.
I am able to launch the game with the latest NVDA. But I cannot operate the
game at all. The human voice in the game says choose to play over a network
or on this machine. NVDA is completely silent. There is no speech if I press
tab, the arrows, space or enter.
After my cousin installed the game there is 3 icons on my desktop: one that
only says monopoly, one that says monopoly 2002. Pressing enter on both
gives the same result. Then there is an icon called virtual clone drive
which brings up a multi page dialogue.
Me and my cousin played this game a couple of times at his home.
This is such a nice version of monopoly. It has human voices in; and for
each token there is a voice that says something. If I choose the dog token
and if I land on one of my own properties, a voice says: smells like home to
me.
I have jim kitchen's monopoly game to play, but it would be nice to play a
version with human voices and a vvoice that talks for each token.
Has anybody played this version of monopoly on windows7 and how did you set
it up?
Is there may be something in that virtual clone drive multi page dialogue I
must adjust? I have never used a virtual clone drive before.
Many thanks for any help
Bfn
