Hi. Well, when I first started using computers I had a bit of the case of techniphobia myself. However, I knew it was just fear of the unknown. Fear of doing something wrong. The way to beat the techniphobia was to know as much as I possably could about how computers worked, how to do things, and experiment. In research the unknown as best i could. When I first was getting in to computers the main operating system was dos. Long before Windows was something used mainstream. So Write off I got a real understanding that computers were a series of instructions. For example, cd\files to change directories to the files directory. In those days it was mostly keyboard input and as long as you knew the commands you could crews around dos with or without screen reader assistance. Of course, I was losing my vision and wound up with Jaws for Dos. Which helped me with apps, etc. Well, along came Windows 3.1, Jaws For Windows, etc... It was a all new ball game, but I mastered Windows 3.1 the same way as dos. I memorised all the commands, and played with it without a manual trying to figure out how to create icons, move icons, what hot keys did what, etc. Often, I could use it as good without screen reader as with one. Again Windows 95 came out, was majorly different, and I took it the same way as 3.1. I memorized, eexperimented, and so on. It got so that when I was in high school I was more aware of hidden features in Windows that my computer teachers didn't even know this or that could be done. Grin. It was no wonder I eventually wanted to know how programs worked, how they were put together, which forever set me on the path of a programmer. In other words what i am saying is knolege is power. Fear is not knowing what to do, how it is done, etc... Knolege is knowing and with knolege is confidence, boldness to try new things, and the ability to take control of ones computer. Smile.
