Don't try getting off at the very top of the rope. It's a little ways down 
usually. I also suspect that you can find a few different platforms at 
different hights. Ladders seem not to let you go anywhere but all the way up

or down, but ropes seem different. Also, I've found a place with three ropes

where I can jump from rope to rope.
