Hi Matthys, Well it appears to not be my keyboard. I got the old stick working and the good news is it works great, however the bad news is the stability does not improve. The program still does one of a couple of things, it will spontaniously kick me out of the race back to the menu system at random times, or it will crash with the generic unhelpful microsoft error message "topspeed 2 has caused errors and is being closed by windows, blah blah blah." It says a log file has been generated but I'll be damned if I can find it. I am starting to think that the game has some rather serious issues with windows 2000 professional I've installed it on my wife's win98 box and it seems much more stable, in fact it has not crashed at all. I am going to write the guys at playing in the dark and see if there is any way I can help them track this thing down. This game is way too good to not get it running.
Thanks for the suggestion about the batteries though, I will look into that. I'm using XP though, so don't know if it makes any difference. Only time I've seen this keyboard giving problems is when the batteries are getting low. You might invest in batteries with a better work load output like 2800 milliamp. It increases the maximum distance from the receiver quite noticeable.
