Hi, Brenda. Thanks for that. Here's the deal..
What has Shaf done with his life or had to deal with over the past year and a half? This question is simply to illustrate a point.. Yes, I am very lightly compensated for writing some of the best games this community has, and will ever and now never, see. I have accepted pre-orders and they will be refunded. Nothing lost, but now nothing gained. But, then that's it for me. I'm done. I've given up a lot of time and energy that I'd rather spend doing something I love, with the ones I love, and those whose reciprocation means more to me than pocket change. Reciprocation that endures, not quickly forgotten because they haven't been entertained by something new as quickly as they've finished the last great adventure. Over the past two years, I've lost two great friends to illness and senseless accident and almost lost my brother in April 2004 who blew out his ascending aorta, had two major strokes, and several heart attacks and given a less than 5% chance of survival upon arrival to the hospital (where no one on-staff would touch him and had to call in outside doctors who would; nice, huh?). Both myself and my wife have had to deal with major legal and emotional drama with our ex's out of spite and venegeance as well as having to take several months of our own time to sell a house that was essentially abandoned by the other seller who cared naught during the middle of last year. The frivolous legal circus that ended up making my ex look like an idiot just ended this morning. Thank gawd! Not only have I had a serious medical issue to deal with, but my wife is fighting her own battle against cancer and, in doing so, it takes time and energy on both of our parts to handle properly and effectively. During all of this, I've moved from my residence of seven years to an apapartment for six, to a house in Southern California to sell with no gas (which means no hot water nor any stove) and the bare essentials, to various hotels along the way to where my wife and I now currently reside in Roseville. Things are finally settling down, her cancer stable, and the future is looking bright. And, that is why Alchemy started picking up again. But, all those details are MY business, not anyone elses' in the community. People complain for release dates, so approximate ones are given, and then when circumstances change, people freak out. If you don't want to be disappointed, then why ask? Is their very life dependent on playing Montezuma's Revenge on an exact day? To those people--many of which don't even know the meaning of dealing with real, practical life--grow up! So, I'm sorry the community won't be playing Alchemy games and having great fun while some peoples' lives haven't been exactly conducive to those ends. All you had to do is wait and I don't care through however many missed release dates, but you just couldn't. So, now those people and the community-at-large loses. Have fun with SounDoku.. have fun with Top Speed 2.. have fun with Audio Quake.. and, have fun with all the HobbyWare that nearly all of won't ever see the light of day.. but, I can guarantee you that they simply won't compare to what patience, tact, and faith would have. Good luck to the blind gaming community. I hope you all find what it is you're looking for.
