Hi Phil,
Funny you should bring this up. I asked James North this same question
about the last level, and his responce on that subject was the engine
has an option to disable the playing of sounds like gems, gold, etc for
specific levels and rooms.His and my thinking was on the final level the
items could be silent unless you had enough torches, and then the
effects could b enabled when a torch is used.
In the original Montezuma's Revenge if you got the torch from the
previous level it would cary you part through the last level, but it was
still pretty tough to find your way to the tomb. In fact, when I was
sighted I don't believe I ever made it through the last level.
Anyway, your idea of modifying the engine to block the audio navigator
on that level might work as well.
