If it were me, I would first try running an ad that I was looking for any free old gasoline lawn mowers ect.(running or not) that people have cluttering up their garages or sheds and want to get rid of. There are many people that have such items and would gladly give them away instead of having to pay to get rid of them.
Not sure about where you live but here our township has a clean up week where people take old junk to dumpsters located in several locations in the township. There had to be at least 30 lawn mowers taken there this last time. If you have such a program where you live it would be a good way to pick up some to get you started. I don't know about you but my internet service provider has a free classified section where people advertise you might want to look on your ISP's web page.
