Having worked in a shop that made the stuff over 35 years ago, we used
regular bits, power saws and electric sanders. To make the stuff, you
formed a border on a flat stainless steell top, applied gell-coat, poured in
the "mud, added the color, and applied a vibrator to the stell top to make
the bubbles rise to the top [which in this case would be the back of the
  finished slate.""

  Subject: [BlindHandyMan] cultured marble question

  Hi All.

I need to drill into some cultured marble. Since cultured marble is a
composite product and not real stone, I am not sure what to use on it for
tools. Does anyone know if this requires the use of masonary drill bits, or
does one use regular twist drill bits so that it does not chip or crack?

  Thanks-- Mickey
