Dale, I have the Kelvin talking thermostat, and it comes with a very comprehensive CD manual, and a print manual with drawings. So far, no problems.

There is also the Kelvin I believe it is called, the one which responds to spoken instruction. There is someone on this list with one but I forget who it is. I don't think there is much instruction with that unit but again I am uncertain of that.
