I mark the distributor and the block with a soap stone, that's a stick used 
to mark metal.
I then take it to a auto store to have tested, they make sure not to remove 
the mark.
Once I had to get a new one, and they marked the new one
My wife is sited, so she helped me put it back in.
I'm sure I don't have to tell you what happens if you get it positioned 
wrong.
