brice,
The answer is no. There is very few of these homes left in the city. The
larger homes have been revamped and modified to Condo's along the entire
Eastern Prom Street, One side of the street is the Large what was Colonial
or Victorian homes now condo's with decks and the other side is the tip of
the peninsula and that is the Eastern Prom Park. Our city is known for the
number of parks we have.
Almost all homes have been bought up and converted to Apartments for low
income or middle class or Upper class. Here on the hill they have been the
last 4 years converting large Victorian and Colonial Three stories into
Condo's adding Decks to each level.
Their is One that was an old brick Fire House and that a two story that was
converted to Condo's and even added another level to it. In what they call
the old Port area use to be large factories and some have been converted to
Apartments and some to condo's. The Normal for the large buildings Three
story and the highest building in Portland, 14 stories. Those are all flat
roof's.
There are still some smaller houses like mine around.
I could never understand, considering normal winters here, Flat roofs.
Just across the street They are converting an apartment building, after a
serious fire. The three story Narrow 15 by 80 feet long. Flat roof and three
stories. Turning into condo's.
Odd? Well the gentleman paid $450,000.00 for the building and that is the
lot size and no parking. This was two summers ago. Making $1,000.00 per
floor from HUD. HUD would not resign with them and So, because of the damage
of the fire it was tear it down and if so can not rebuild. Empty lot. Take
what he had and add with new. He took the last and had to gut the entire
building and then meet the new codes of 2006 by laws for buildings now.
Here each floor first second up half bath and first full bath. Either end is
the kitchen. It fits my needs and fell in love with the size.
You guys on the handy man list helped a lot in the remodeling that I've done
over the years separate of the contractor.
