Yeah, Tom. Landlords get real pissy when ya start drillin holes in the walls.
REally can't understand why, smirk. Seriously though, it's something me and my
gal have been tossing around for a while now. We're considering buying this
property from our landlord, extending the back of it (the kitchen is really
badly designed and only has about 3 feet of counter space in a 20 foot room)
and pulling out the living room a bit to put in that fire place and a couple of
book cases, but the dollars are missing for such a venture. As of right now, we
only have about 6 feet of available wall space in the living room, and I'm just
not comfortable trying to put in anything in such a small area. As I said, I
really wasn't quite seriously considering bringing in the fire place from
outside, I was kind of half joking, kind of wondering if it could actually
work. But thanks for all you guys' input on the matter.

I'm sure there are stove and other much less expensive indoor options,
but they still have to be installed by someone who knows what they're
  doing.

I also wouldlove an indoor fireplace but in a rented small duplex it ain't
  gonna happen.
