You can purchase a battery operated clock at Spencer Gifts that runs backwards.

Battery powered electric clocks drive the motor from a transistor circuit 
that keeps good time.  It's a lot more complicated than that but this is not 
an electronics list.  Before someone else says something the transistors are 
in an integrated circuit.  An integrated circuit is just a way to package 
transistors in a very small space.  Anyway,  if you reverse the battery, the 
motor won't run backwards, the transistors in the IC will burn out.
